Coaching encompasses many areas, often in highly specialised fields such as career, business, executive, dating, fitness, health, lifestyle, music, relationships and sport.
People come to coaching because they want change, therefore the role of the coach is to act as a sounding board for clients, to unlock their true potential, thus enabling them to move towards a more fulfilling and balanced life.
The coach believes it is the client who has the answers and sets the agenda for the sessions, whereas the coach asks the questions and remains largely non-judgemental. This illustrates the difference between coaching and other professions such as mentoring (giving advice) and counselling/therapy (healing).
